Ellen & Franklin

Meet Teacher Ellen - our center director!

Born and Raised in Taiwan, Ellen Yi Chun Lin started piano at age five and picked up the double bass at age 9. She moved to the United States at age 15 and attended the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts where upon graduation Ellen was a recipient of the Timothy G. Taylor Scholarship for Performing Arts. In 2006 she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

A natural with young children and young adults, Ellen enjoyed a few years of teaching and mentoring in San Francisco and taught two summers at the at the Hayward La Honda Music Camp. With her strong people skills and warm hospitality, Ellen found the perfect couple (Massi and Jennifer Boldrini) to work with in 2007, opening an Italian restaurant in Berkeley. She was there until the birth of her son in 2015.

In 2016, Ellen moved with her family to Sonoma County after being offered a job managing a sculpture ranch in Geyserville. Ellen and her now four year old son can be found regularly at local music events, him front and center trying to blend in as a performer! Ellen is happiest when she is able to influence, inspire and support others through her passion of classical music (or non-classical, but she mostly leaves that to her husband Jeff, who is a human encyclopedia of all things rock-and-roll)

Ellen became a certified Music Together teacher in 2020 and is excited to be able to share the musical journey with children and their grown ups!

  • Older siblings are welcome, too, as "special helpers"

The Music Together® philosophy is that ALL children are musical -- and that we are all born with musical capabilities.

Music is something we DO - not something that we only consume.
